GOF Flies and Lures
My fly fishing career began some 60 odd years ago when my dad put a fly on the line of my spinning outfit. That day he showed me how to catch bluegills and sunfish with something other than the "garden hackle" (i.e. worms) I'd been using. Within an hour I was addicted. When I soon lost that fly and asked my dad for another, he bought me a "Beginner's Fly Tying Outfit" from Herter's catalogue. This was my baptism to fly tying.
While a graduate student at UC Berkeley I was lucky to meet Andy Puyans. He taught me to tie. He was one of the best known professional fly tiers and fishing guides in North America. Andy could tie a full dressed Jock Scott in a couple of minutes! I helped him for several years as he taught fly tying classes. At this point I began professionally tying for a small group of select customers. I've been tying professionally since the late 60's and have become a Wheatley and Mustad distributor as well.
Now that I have retired, I have more time to do what I really love - tie flies and fish them.
On the following pages you will find the patterns most often requested. All my flies are tied by me personally and to order only. If you require any others, they will be tied to your specifications. All my flies are tied to order and require up to 2 weeks to produce and ship. Small assortments are available for approval. Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If not, return them and all monies (including shipping) will be refunded to you.
The most recent addition to my product line is presentation assortments in the famed Wheatley fly boxes. Corporate customers can use these monogrammed presentation boxes of assorted flies to reward valued customers and/or employees. They also make a great graduation gift.
